New BMBF funding guideline "New therapeutic options in medical technology

Representatives of industry, science and hospitals with research and development projects for new, marketable medical technology therapy solutions.

The focus of the funding is on the (exemplary) topics:

  • Substitution of pharmaceuticals: Reducing the use of pharmaceuticals through interventions or a medical device.
  • Gentle interventions: For example, by reducing injuries from medical interventions or shortening surgery times.
  • Replacement of surgery: Such as through percutaneous procedures that work "through the skin."
  • Novel therapeutic procedures: New approaches or methods that enable improved therapy.

The new funding guideline of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is intended to help improve patient care through therapies based on innovative medical devices.

Pure software solutions and the development of apps (digital medical devices) are explicitly excluded from funding. Aspects of the supply chain beyond therapy may be involved, but should not be central project content. Also not considered are clinical trials in the context of clinical evaluation.

Please note: Deadline for submission of project outlines for the funding guideline (first procedural stage) is August 31, 2023.

Aim of the event

The face-to-face event provides an overview of the above-mentioned BMBF funding program and enables networking with other participants for the initiation of collaborative projects.

Speakers from the responsible project sponsor VDI Technologiezentrum GmbH will provide information on the program overview, application requirements and review criteria. A Q&A session is also planned.

After the event, the project management organization offers the opportunity to receive individual advice in 1:1 meetings on the submission of outlines. If interested, please contact Yvonne Küchler at yvonne.kuechler@berlin-partner.de.
