‘Artificial intelligence will not replace journalists. But journalists who use artificial intelligence will replace those who don't.’ - This quote comes from Francesco Maroni, co-founder of AppliedXL and former research and development director of the Wall Street Journal.
The press and journalism thrive on the processing of information and facts into creative content and formats like no other industry. With generative AI, a digital tool is available for the first time that addresses precisely this interface.
So are we facing the end of traditional journalism and press publishing? Or can AI actually help to ‘take quality, social relevance and the business model for journalism to the next level’, as Matthias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer, put it in 2023?
These questions will be explored in the fifth edition of the ‘AI can...’ event series. As always, the focus will be concrete and practical: Leading German media companies such as the Funke Mediengruppe, the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung will show at ‘KI kann Presse’ how AI is already changing their work today. This will be followed, as usual, by a joint discussion on the social, political and economic aspects of the AI revolution in the press sector - moderated by Marie Christine Knop.
The event takes place from 5:30 to 7:45 pm.
