This autumn, the Federal Foreign Office's Data Innovation Lab (DIL) is hosting the first Foreign Policy and AI Forum. This one-day online event will bring together a diverse group of foreign policy experts, academics, policy makers, data scientists and AI experts to explore practical examples and case studies of AI use in foreign policy and foster critical dialogue and collaboration at the intersection of technology and international affairs. In an era characterised by rapid technological advancement, the intersection between artificial intelligence (AI) and foreign policy (FP) presents both opportunities and challenges. In an increasingly interconnected world, the use of AI technologies is a crucial factor in shaping diplomatic strategies, international relations and geopolitical dynamics.
The Data Innovation Lab is an innovative collaboration between the German Federal Foreign Office and the GovTech Campus in Germany. It serves as a dynamic hub that fosters collaboration between different stakeholders such as local actors, civil society organisations, UN agencies, technology entrepreneurs, governments, the private sector and academia in Germany and globally. The Lab acts as a testing ground for trialling and refining different policy and use case formats in the global arena. The overarching goal is to develop data applications, especially those that utilise the possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI), while adhering to ethical principles and contributing to multilateral processes.
The Foreign Policy and AI Forum will take place on 16 October 2024 from 9 AM to 7 PM. The organisers are looking forward to welcoming you and to an exciting event between politics and AI.
