AI4Science – AI for Gravitational Waves

The “AI4Science – AI for Gravitational Waves” meetup will take place on March 26, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Merantix AI Campus (Max-Urich-Straße 3, 13355 Berlin). The event brings together engineers, researchers, and scientists interested in exploring how modern machine learning methods accelerate scientific discovery across disciplines.

The featured speaker is Annalena Kofler, a PhD candidate in Machine Learning at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen, supervised by Bernhard Schölkopf. In her talk, she will present research on gravitational-wave parameter estimation using transformer architectures, based on her paper “Flexible Gravitational-Wave Parameter Estimation with Transformers.” She will also discuss her work on the DINGO package, highlighting how simulation-based inference and modern ML techniques are advancing astrophysical research.

The program includes an introduction, a keynote talk followed by Q&A, and networking with drinks and snacks. The meetup is hosted at the Merantix AI Campus in collaboration with partners from the AI-for-science ecosystem, including CuspAI, Dunia Innovations, and Tiptree Systems.
