A Digital Planet

We are honored to invite you to the event "A Digital Planet -Using geospatial data for advancing the SDGs, building resilience and tackling the climate crisis, on June 1st, 2023, at the Spielfeld Digital Hub, Skalitzer Str. 85-86, 10997 Berlin.

Data collected from the air and space offers an enormous opportunity for sustainable development. Geospatial imaging can help identify early signs of disasters, such as droughts or landslides, and identify vulnerable localities and populations. It can help in monitoring biodiversity conservation and support the identification of nature-based solutions. Furthermore, such data can also help countries in taking more informed decisions for national climate, nature and sustainable development planning processes.

The potential of geospatial data for development in the age of Artificial Intelligence, the achievement of the SDGs, as well as the importance of partnerships will be explored in this joint event of UNDP, the German Federal Foreign Office and BMZ.

The event will start at 9.30am and end at 13.00pm, followed by a networking lunch.

To the event we welcome Dr. Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office and Haoliang Xu, UN Assistant Secretary-General/ UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support as our keynote speakers. Furthermore, we look forward to welcoming speakers from the European Space Agency, private sector and academia.

We would value your attendance at this special in-person event. To ensure seating and to plan for refreshments and lunch, we request that you kindly register by 18 May 2023.
